Podere 414

Podere 414

Podere 414 is located in the municipality of Magliano, about 10 km from Scansano, in the province of Grosseto, within the DOCG Morellino di Scansano. The vineyards of the Castelli family are characterized by the high density of plants and have an area of almost 10 hectares, in addition to other 5 hectares in rent.

The name of the farm comes from the number given to the plot of land that the former authority for land reform, in the 60s, had attributed to the land assigned to Simone Castelli, the current owner, during the splitting of large estates in Tuscany.

The soils of the area, then, also the ones of Simone, were absolutely uncultivated, semi-wild, with woods and pastures, and all recipients of the lots have committed heavily to maintain the basic features, then without altering excessively the ecosystem of Grosseto Maremma. The European Community has shown the Maremma Grosseto, with Provence and the north of Scotland, as the best preserved natural oases in Europe.

Morellino 414, the company produces 90,000 bottles in a year, is an assemblage of almost alchemical 5 blends: predominantly Sangiovese (85%) and Ciliegiolo (5%), Alicante ( 4%), Colorino (3%) with the addition of a further 3 (%) of other local red grapes: it is a cocktail that is hard to resist!
