Acquabona

Acquabona winery was born in the late 50s and has arised in a 18th century farm, located on the island of Elba, halfway between Portoferraio and Porto Azzurro, on the site of a source of fresh water. Since 1986 the winery has been led by three agronomists, friends, lovers of good wine and the beauty of the island: Marcello Fioretti, Ugo Lucchini and Lorenzo Capitani.

Pioneers of a business decision that has affected the recovery of the traditional wine growing that characterize the landscape of the Elbe, the three partners put into practice a philosophy that includes the cultivation of native varieties most characteristic, the conservation of typical wine of the island, respect for the environment and the winemaking tradition.

Near the farm, in Acquabona, there are 16 hectares of vineyards, where white grapes and some red grapes grow; other two hectares, in Lacona, are situated 150 meters above sea level and organized on ancient terraces recovered, being destined for the finest red grapes. The ancient local vines, popular on the island since immemorial time, are affected by the beneficial Mediterranean climate and marine environment that allows their best expression production. The vineyards are in a landscape of rare beauty, surrounded by the Mediterranean, overlooking the sea and facing south, kissed by the sun from sunrise to sunset.

Children of the island tradition, revived by the use of modern technology, the wines produced are distinguished by the richness of delicate, fragrant and pleasing, for the originality and stylistic coherence due to perfect compliance suited to most typical island. Everything about the work and passion of the three members who have made their company one of the most important and popular of the Tuscan archipelago, Elba flag oenology.
